For everyone in the gamin industry E3 is a big deal. It’s where all the software houses and game developers can show off their upcoming games to a mass audience that will reach millions and hope to generate interest and hype in readiness for their big release dates. E3 2011 promises to be a good one what with the anticipated releases of Gears of War 3, Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3 and many others…

E3 2011 Expo – Day 1

The main announcements at the E3 2011 expo in terms of games have been the dates set for Mass Effect 3 (March 6, 2012), Battlefield 3 (October 25, 2011) and the Call of Duty beta which rolls out on July 14, 2011.

Other announcements include the release of a new Tomb Raider game (due 2012), Kinect Sports 2 and the massive news of the Master Chief returning in Halo 4!!

Aside from the games, Sony had a big announcements from day 1 of the E3 2011 expo: unveiling their new device, the Sony Vita. Being a successor to the Sony PSP, the Vita is set to change the portable console devices in a big way. Check out the PlayEject Sony Vita feature.

Microsoft were not to be outdone though and in the E3 2011 Expo announced a number of games that are set to be released in the next 12 months that boast the Kinect features. From voice controlled dialogue decisions in Mass Effect 3 to Kinect compatibility in EA’s new sports games (Fifa 12 and Madden 12). It does look like Microsoft have been giving the Kinect the push it needs to get developers producing for the larger market audience.

The Kinect is also being given another boost when Microsoft launch their new Xbox Live this autumn. The new Xbox Live will feature full Kinect compatibility including voice controls and hopefully the full interaction that the original Kinect trailer promised!!
