The E3 2011 Expo is on Day 3 and there still some news to come…
Despite the huge announcements from Sony regarding the Vita and Nintendo showing off the Wii U from earlier on in the E3 2011 expo, other announcements made on Day 3 were more to do with the games rather than the new gadgets and consoles.
Previews of Mass Effect 3, Batman Arkham City and Sony’s big game – Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception. There were also sneak peaks of the new Hitman: Absolution game and Far Cry 3. The Wii U was also on full tech demo with the new Zelda game being shown off and looking pretty good.
The new Hitman: Absolution game trailer is looking very slick – check out the video below for the official trailer. PlayEject are big fans of the Hitman series and Agent 47. Not so hot for the film but we’ll gloss over that as we whet our appetites. Although there’s no in-game footage so far, the last Hitman: Blood Money game was a reasonable success and improved on the series as a whole. We’re expecting the same level of ingenuity and freedom to perform the assassinations through careful planning as we’ve grown accustomed to.
Dead Island was also shown off with gameplay footage of the first person zombie-survival game due out later this year. Its looking like its going to be a success given the hype its getting – we just hope it can live up to it!
For those unsure what to expect, its a bit like Left 4 Dead but much less about co-op multiplayer and more about making use of the weapons to survive. The loading times on the demo could be a concern but it is only a demo (see below) so we should give it the benefit of the doubt for now.
Despite some claims from news agencies that the E3 Expo has perhaps lost some of its appeal, its clear that E3 2011 has been a great success. Some massive announcements and reveals mean everyone who attended was kept happy and had something to write home about. For the companies like Activision, EA, Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony its a great opportunity and platform to show off their latest and greatest to a widespread audience of eager gamers and fellow industry bods. Roll on 2012…!
