So the E3 2011 Expo is well underway and after some massive announcements at E3 2011 Day 1, Day 2 is shaping up to have some of its own big news…
Sony have announced the Vita – the new NGP (Next Generation Portable) console and now Nintendo have announced their new device – the Nintendo Wii U!!

Looking like a cross between a tablet PC and a standard games controller, the Wii U has a 6.2 inch HD touchscreen as well as the standard d-pad, buttons and sticks to move around your games. Holding the Wii U with both hands is essential but the other features include the front-facing camera and a gyro sensor (similar to Nintendo’s 3DS).
Some of the games featured on the demo at the E3 2011 Expo for the Wii U showed off the Mii Chase and Battle Mii – 2 simple games that see you (with the Wii U) running around a map trying to stay away from (Mii Chase) or attack others (Battle Mii) while the other players were playing from a standard Wii controller on the TV on split screen. It looks simple enough in terms of gameplay but was meant to show off one of the features of the new device.
The other cool features for gamers include moving the Wii U while playing the games (similar to the Wii controller) to activate certain functions within a game. This includes blocking with a shield when being attacked by holding the Wii U up or moving around a car as it drives through a street – all with impressive graphics thanks to the new chipsets.
All this is due out in the second half of 2012 check back with PlayEject.com for more news on the Wii U as and when we have it!
